3.5 g salt

How to prepare

Different variations of the fruit dumplings are typical for the Czech cuisine. They can be yeast-leavened on steam, made from various curd cheese or choux doughs. Most of us have the turn of the summer holidays and the beginning of September connected with plums. A multitude of Czech songs contain plums. They are a timeless classic. You can use our recipe to prepare the fruit potato dumplings from potato dough made with the wholegrain spelt flour.

Peel the potatoes and grate them finely adding the flour, salt and the whole egg. You can even use soft curd cheese, but choose one packed in tinfoil not in a tab.

Mix all of the ingredients and knead thoroughly. Let the dough stand shortly (about 5 minutes). Once you prepare the plums, form the dumplings immediately. Boil them in slightly salted water for 7-8 minutes.

The dumplings are traditionally finished with ground poppy seeds, sugar and melted butter. But cinnamon, yogurt, lumpy curd cheese or sour cream are also possible.
