Ivona Hofmann and Milan Novák
Just after the revolution, Milan Novák, the founder of Nominal, bought a run-down farmhouse after his father's cousin in the village of Vídeň in the Vysočina region. He decided to go into business and looked for a way to add value to agricultural products. This is where the idea of producing instant cereal porridges emerged. 1989
At the beginning of the '90s, Nominal launches the first five types of Nomina cereal porridges. Milan Novák starts the production on his own in Vídeň in the Vysočina region and begins selling the products in traditional convenience stores and smaller private shops. 1993
The establishment of cooperation with health food companies in the Czech Republic represents a major milestone. CountryLife and Natural Jihlava become Nominal's first strong partners, and the company becomes sustainable. 1995
Nominal expands its product range to include gluten-free products and becomes a pioneer in the processing of buckwheat hulls, which contain a high proportion of rutin and fibre. With the arrival of gluten-free production and the establishment of a long-term cooperation with clients in Sweden, Nominal becomes one of the first Czech companies to manufacture products suitable for coeliacs. 2005
Daughter Ivona Hofmann joins the company to focus on building the marketing and sales department. She creates the company's new brand and redesigns all the packages. The Nominal brand as we know it emerges. Son Filip is also involved in the company, completely taking over the agriculture and gradually becoming the technical manager in the new management. Daughter Dita also works with the company externally. In 2013, owing also to the involvement of other family members, the company Nominal transitions from a natural person to NOMINAL CZ OBCHODNÍ s. r. o. 2013
Due to our origins as an agricultural company, we've been growing spelt for many years. It's extremely close to our hearts. We've commissioned our own spelt hulling plant and in cooperation with a private mill, we present spelt from the Vysočina region in various forms - wholemeal, plain, semi-coarse and course flours as well as porridges. 2015
In 2016, the first expansion of production to Žďár nad Sázavou takes place. Nominal thus manufactures its products in two plants. 2016
In 2018, due to the need for quality oil cake for gluten-free bread mixtures, the idea of joining forces with Milan Novak's brother, Václav, is conceived. Thus, a new family project is born, namely our own oil mill Ze stodoly. With this, Nominal gains a stable supplier of the highest quality oil cake and at the same time a supplier of cold-pressed oils, which broadens Nominal's product portfolio. 2018
