Mug cake
You haven't heard of it yet? The so-called “mug cake” is a warm dessert served in a mug. In this case, the mug is both the bowl and the baking pan. One of the charms of the mug cake is that it’s ready within five minutes from the moment you decide to treat yourselves. Of course, you need to have the basic ingredients on hand, but the microwave will do the rest.
We also have such a treat in a sack for you in Nominal. We've already mixed all the dry ingredients to keep it gluten-free. Then just add a little oil and milk (cow's or any vegetable milk) to the mug and stir well. If you add buttermilk or kefir instead of milk, you need to increase the baking time by about 15 s. When making the mug cake, you need to set the POWER and TIME settings on your microwave well. But it's nothing complicated - just read the detailed directions on the back of the sack. You can also divide the raw batter into two smaller porcelain mugs, but when baking you must remember that the microwave doesn't bake continuously, so you'll need to bake each mug separately. And since there is less batter in the cup, cut the baking time by about half. Of course, the batter can be baked in a regular oven as well. The result will be a slightly different texture of dessert, more like a muffin. However, the magic of speed is lost. Of course, baking in a conventional oven takes longer. The stirred batter can also be divided into silicone ‘bear claw’ cookie moulds. Once baked, you get a bowl of tiny pastries that resemble French madeleines.
We have put an original flavour into each mug - in the chocolate mug cake, we have spared no expense with selected cocoa with an intense chocolate flavour or fine dark chocolate chips. These can't be missing in the stracciatella cake either. Lovers of oriental flavours will enjoy the gingerbread one, which combines a selected mixture of gingerbread spices with a subtle hint of cocoa. The quartet is completed by a simple cake with the flavour of lemon and lemon zest.
The supple texture of the finished dessert will please every sweet tooth, but we recommend enhancing the final impression even more. How about whipped or sour cream, yoghurt or fruit? Raspberries, strawberries, cherries or mangoes go fantastically well with the chocolate flavour, and orange, apple, pear or plum slices with the gingerbread flavour. Stracciatella and lemon combine beautifully with small berries, crushed nuts or grated coconut.
You can delight not only yourself but also your loved ones with sweet sacks. The Mug Cake can be waiting in the pantry for an unexpected visit, a chat with a friend or a children's party where you can bring a dessert prepared in minutes. For students at the dorm, you can pack a sack in their backpacks so they have something to reach for when they crave something sweet.
We hope you enjoy it!
