Nomík cereal porridge (gluten-free)
Gluten free
vegan
Looking for a quick snack for your kids? A nutritionally balanced breakfast? Are you on a gluten-free diet? Then our Nomík porridge is what we recommend.
The porridge is made from two naturally gluten-free ingredients, millet and rice. Because we use hulled (white) rice, it has a lower fibre content and is a very gentle source of energy in the form of complex carbohydrates. These properties make it suitable for those who have to limit the amount of fibre in their diet for health reasons. The grains are gently heat treated beforehand so that they don't need to be cooked and the porridge is ready in a few minutes. At the same time, however, it retains its nutritional value. The porridge has a smooth consistency, pleasant taste and easy digestibility.
As per usual, you won't find milk, added sugar or other flavourings in the ingredients. Only grains.

Nomík porridge isn’t flavoured, you choose what other ingredients or sweeteners you want or can use. The porridge doesn't contain any allergens. It's instant and has already been heat treated. Thanks to this, you can prepare it for consumption in a few minutes. It's up to you what you want to flavour it with or how thick it will be. You choose what to sweeten it with and how sweet it will be. It can be prepared both sweet and savoury. It's nutritious, filling and easy to digest. You can prepare the porridge at home, on a visit with friends, or even on the go. Just wherever you have Nomík cereal porridge at hand.
- A couple of tips
- You can mix the porridge in hot milk, in your favourite vegetable milk (coconut, almond, rice, etc.) or in yoghurt with water.
- Use approximately three to four times the amount of hot liquid and "fine-tune" the thickness to your liking. Expect the porridge to swell up and thicken within 3-5 minutes.
- Sweetening? You can flavour it with honey or a sweet vegetable syrup (cereal, maple, chicory, ...). But the milk already has a sweet taste.
- All kinds of fruit are friends with porridge, preferably fresh, dried fruit also tastes good.
- A little spice can be useful. Cinnamon or star anise are a must, but you can also try a pinch of cloves and others.
- Yoghurt or quark will add protein.
- Don't forget some seeds and nuts.
- For the sweet tooth we can add quality chocolate or homemade jam.
- Or something else entirely. The thick porridge can also be prepared as a savoury dish. This includes herbs, garlic, mushrooms, Parmesan cheese, onions or avocado.

SOMETHING ABOUT RICE
I'm a traveler. I often come to your porridge from as far away as Asia. I like a country where it's warm and humid. Such countries are called tropical. There are many varieties grown in the world. Like round grain rice for risotto, glutinous rice for rice pudding bake and mountain basmati rice. I, and all my relatives, love water. We practically grow in a swamp. I look like a thick tuft of grass that has lots of rice grains at the end of each blade. Come harvest time, the water runs off. And you can harvest three times a year like this. A full quarter of the people on the planet live mainly on rice.
SOMETHING ABOUT MILLET
My plants in the field could be mistaken for thick, tall grass. Grass is, in fact, a relative of mine. Unhulled millet is known in Czech as "proso". It's a familiar bird feed. Hulled grains are known in Czech as "jáhly" (millet). I'm a tasty, nutritious and healthy foodstuff that will fill any tummy. For our great-great-grandmothers, I was the grain of choice. Millet porridge and pudding bakes weren’t missing in any kitchen. I can be in your porridge too.
Nomík cereal porridge is suitable for celiacs and a gluten-free diet.
