NOMINA sorghum cereal porridge (gluten-free)

Gluten free vegan

This porridge combines two exceptional crops from different parts of the world - sorghum and rice. Thanks to the careful selection of ingredients, it offers an unusual taste experience that will delight your senses. The grains are gently heat treated, so you don't have to cook them, and the porridge is ready in just a few minutes, while retaining all the important nutritional values.

We use whole grain rice, which retains valuable nutrients such as minerals, vitamins and fibre - properties that white rice lacks.

And as always, you won't find milk, added sugar or artificial flavourings in the ingredients - just pure grains. Try our sorghum and rice porridge and discover a delicious and healthy meal!

The porridge doesn't contain any allergens. It's instant and has already been heat treated. Thanks to this, you can prepare it for consumption in a few minutes. It's up to you what you want to flavour it with or how thick it will be. You choose what to sweeten it with and how sweet it wil be. It can be prepared both sweet and savoury. It's nutritious, filling and easy to digest. You can prepare the porridge at home, on a visit with friends, or even on the go. Just wherever you have the Nomina instant sorghum porridge at hand.

    • A couple of tips:
    • You can mix the porridge in hot milk, in your favourite vegetable milk (coconut, almond, rice, etc.) or in yoghurt with water.
    • Use approximately three to four times the amount of hot liquid and "fine-tune" the thickness to your liking. Expect the porridge to swell up and thicken within 3-5 minutes.
    • Sweetening? You can flavour it with honey or a sweet vegetable syrup (cereal, maple, chicory, ...). But the milk already has a sweet taste.
    • All kinds of fruit are friends with porridge, preferably fresh, dried fruit also tastes good.
    • A little spice can be useful. Cinnamon or star anise are a must, but you can also try a pinch of cloves and others.
    • Yoghurt or quark will add protein.
    • Don't forget some seeds and nuts.
    • For the sweet tooth we can add quality chocolate or homemade jam.
    • Or something else entirely. The thick porridge can also be prepared as a savoury dish. This includes herbs, garlic, mushrooms, Parmesan cheese, onions or avocado.
  • Porridge isn’t just for porridge

You can also use the product

    • to thicken soups or sauces
    • as a binder for minced meat or vegetable mixtures (meatballs)
    • to thicken confectionery fillings (e.g. apple, curd)

Common sorghum, that's the name of the plant after which the porridge is named. It's a very old crop native to northeast Africa. It was known to the ancient Egyptians. Gradually it spread to the warmer and drier regions of all continents. Today, it's said to be grown in largest quantities in the USA. Depending on the species, sorghum is used for various technical purposes, sugar production and animal feed. Grain sorghum is grown as a cereal for human consumption. It's one of the five most widely grown food grains in the world.

Together with natural rice, which only sheds its hard husk after threshing and retains much more vitamins, valuable minerals and, of course, fibre than husked rice, it makes a good tandem for a healthy breakfast or snack.

SUITABLE FOR CELIACS AND A GLUTEN-FREE DIET.
