Inulin

The new single-serving porridges contain not only cereals, but also ingredients whose positive effects on the human body you may not have known about. Let's take a look at them.

Some plants contain a storage carbohydrate that replaces the commonly known starch. It is called inulin and chemically it is classified as a fructan. The roots and tubers of plants are usually the richest in inulin. You can find it in plants such as garlic, onions, Jerusalem artichokes or sunflowers. Our inulin comes from chicory roots.

The human body breaks down starch using enzymes called amylases. Unfortunately, it is not enzymatically equipped to be able to break down inulin, which cannot be used as an energy source. Because it is a soluble fiber, inulin passes through the small intestine without being absorbed. However, colon bacteria can use it as an energy source. Inulin acts as a PREBIOTIC. Supporting the growth of bifidogenic microflora is extremely important for the human body. Colon bacteria then support proper intestinal function and protect the body from various infections.

Inulin also

  • helps to lower blood triglyceride levels

  • contributes to lowering blood cholesterol levels

  • improves insulin sensitivity
  • It is not only suitable for the diet of diabetics or people with elevated cholesterol levels, but for everyone.

You can find inulin in our single-portion porridges Nomina office and Nomina sport.
