Jidášky (gluten-free)

This recipe for gluten-free jidášky (Jidáš - Judas, soft, sweet yeast buns twisted into loops to symbolise the Judas’ rope) will guide you through the simple step-by-step preparation. With creative options for shaping the dough, you can start experimenting with a tradition that will please children and adults alike. The wonderful aroma of freshly baked pastry will fill your kitchen and delight all the senses. Ideal as part of a festive table setting or as a sweet gift for your loved ones!

Directions

  1.  Let the stirred dough stand for about 5 minutes, then process immediately.

  2. Roll out the dough pieces and form various shapes, most often loops as a symbol of Judas' rope.

  3. Place the shaped pieces of dough on a baking tray and let rise in a warm place (for example, a tempered oven). It's important to protect the dough from drying out.

  4. Once risen, which takes about 45-50 minutes (depending on the ambient temperature), smear the surface of the dough with whisked egg.

  5. Once the dough is smeared, you can sprinkle it with whole poppy seeds or almond flakes.

  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 160-170 °C for 16-20 minutes, depending on the size of the individual pieces. It's important not to over-dry the dough unnecessarily.

Enjoy the preparation and the resulting baked treats
